Queer melodrama or Mexican road movie story: “Guadalupe and Minerva. The trip to Oaxaca”.

Book presentation with a reading and discussion of the graphic novel by Brazilian poet Angélica Freitas and Brazilian illustrator Odyr, published in German by Parallelallee, translated by Lea Hübner, who will host the evening in conversation with Freitas.

The story: When Guadalupe’s grandmother dies in a moped accident, she sets off with her uncle Minerva to fulfill her last wish. In the process, she attracts the attention of the ancient Aztec god Xyzotlán, who fears for his right to exist in modern-day Mexico. Guadalupe barely has time to deal with her own life crisis …

A crazy chase, with mushrooms, lots of superpowers and prominent supporting roles – as multi-layered and interwoven as modernity and myth in Mexico itself.
