GOSSIP. Comic works on the main theme of the about_bookshop
Six comic artists creatively explore the topic of “gossip” and exhibit their works in the about_bookshop.
Gossip in today’s sense means both gossip or chatter, as well as the person who puts the gossip into the world: the gossip monger. The connection between (often malicious) gossip and the woman, the “gossipy woman”, is quickly established. The term gossip has always been associated with femininity – only the meaning has changed over the centuries: from a word for friendship and affection to a term for slander and ridicule.
Inspired by the fascinating history of Gossip as a symbol of women’s status, from emancipation and oppression to today’s detached meaning, the comic artists process their impressions in several posters.
