Catherine’s War – Claire Fauvel in conversation with Augusto Paim
In Germany, we know of Claire Fauvel through her biographical comic Phoolan Devi – Rebel Queen (NBM Publishing). Her most recent publication is her comic Catherine’s War, which received the 2018 Prix Jeunesse in Angoulême and is also a biography, and was co-created with Julia Billet, the daughter of the protagonist who as a young Jewish girl had to hide from the German occupiers and documented her encounters and experiences through photographs.
Journalist August Paim speaks with Claire Fauvell about her book and the particularities of biography as a genre.
