Comics & The City

or how to understand urban spaces through the medium of comics

A practical workshop focusing on creating and experiencing a sense of space, surroundings and cities through the medium of comics and creative drawing.

How do comic artists create a strong sense of time and space? What makes cities alive and how can I transfer this to my work? How does my personal experience and knowledge shape the cities and my experience of cities around me? How do graphic novels support or create the identity of the city?

The workshop is two hours long and includes a short PowerPoint lecture on the topic of comics and cities, both interactive and solo drawing exercises, and a facilitated discussion.
