Movements and Moments

Initiated by Goethe-Institut Indonesien, the project “Movements and Moments – Feminist Generations” aims to make visible these hidden biographies and activisms of feminist movements from the Global South. After an open call launched in 2019 with 218 applications from 42 countries, 10 stories were selected for a book, the German edition of which will be published by Jaja Verlag. At the book release, Sonja Eismann (publisher of German feminist periodical Missy Magazine) will be talking with artist Nina Martinez, who illustrated the comic “Let The River Flow Free”. Martinez is an award-winning illustrator from Makati City, Philippines. After the event, she will be signing the book.

This event will be held in English.

About the book: Anarchist cholas in Bolivia, radically sustainable peasant women in India or Filipino grandmothers who bare their bodies in the fight against a dam – they are all part of indigenous feminist movements from the Global South. This volume brings together ten stories of these decolonial struggles, which have so far received far too little attention in our country.
